Yeah, I meant to mention that co-op is a great laugh. Quite aside from anything else, removing the head-slapping idiocy of the friendly AI makes the experience roughly 150% more enjoyable.

What i liked about R6V2 is not the solo mode but the co-operative multiplayer gameplay. It's one of the few where you actually need to co-operate to be effective.

Boss battles in and of themselves are not a problem. See: God Hand, Super Mario Galaxy, the flying aircraft carrier and Giant Meg-O-Cannon from Ace Combat 6 and OBVIOUSLY the end of Portal. I love a good boss battle. I only have an issue when they're cheap and needlessly frustrating (Conan), when they're jammed into a genre or style of game that doesn't support them (R6V2) or both (Guitar Hero III).

I think Big Boss Battles are becoming scarcer in modern gaming - especially in FPS - and I think it's a bad thing. I was thinking this the other day, when it dawned on me I hadn't seen one in any of the last 4 games I'd been playing extensively (Halo 3 has none of any great note, Fallout 3 sort-of has one, but there are loads of them and they are quite easy to pummel once you work out where a few key weapons are, Bioshock sort-of has them again, but same thing, and CoD 4 has none I can remember).

I love Big Bosses. You know you are getting somewhere when some great stupid brute with a typically repetitive movement pattern lumbers into view. And there's the feeling of acheivement when you consign the big fella to the turf. So I applaud R6V2 for carrying the torch for Big Bosses everywhere.

Other than that, you've hardly sold me, so I think I'll pass. You've saved me a pile of time getting hold of the game and playing it myself. Thanks Blue Man - nerding it so I don't have to. Leet Skillz.
