Re: The darkly hilarious interview on Radio 4 this morning in which BNP leader, holocaust denier, new Member of the European Parliament and all-terrain tosspot Nick Griffin declared straight-faced that white folk are now second-class citizens in Britain:
“Alright, apart from the House of Commons, the banks, the police, the European Parliament, the media, the Cabinet, the armed forces, the Civil Service, teaching, the House of Lords, the City, the social services, journalism, the Church and 94% of all management positions – what is there left that white British people still control?”
The Polish spitfire on the BNP’s anti-foreign-types leaflet remains my favourite recent example of spectacular hubris.
Especially the bit afterwards where they claimed they meant to do it all along.
Do we still control the aqueducts?
It may be as PC as a game of “Spot the Chronic Masturbator” (coming soon to Channel 5 I’m sure…), but a part of me is glad the BNP got in. Either 1) they’ll do quite well and force the other parties to up their game… and inevitably throw muck at them (a la expenses) and force them to quit (best of both worlds – they do some good and get chucked), or 2) they do such a spectacutlarly bad job they are forced out into Political Coventry and are never seen again.
Of course there is no chance they could do quite well and gain popular support and make any lasting difference is there! Is there? Oh…
