It’s one of the immutable laws of the universe. When an actor’s mentioned on the back of a DVD case, their name has to be followed by exactly two other films they’ve been in that might generate a spark of recognition in the prospective viewer.
Pity the poor sod writing the blurb for the Highlander DVD who has to find two more Christopher Lambert movies that anyone other than blood-relations of the cast might have seen. In the end, they’ve gone with Mortal Kombat and Subway (no, me either). It might have been slightly more honest to try Highlander 2 and You Know, That One Where He’s That Bloke In That Prison.

Subway was an early effort in the French film-makers try to imitate Hollywood, erm, Wave. Because it was an early effort I think the director had a hard time throwing the inherent confines of being a Frenchy and the film didn’t suck as much as you’d expect. Although my memories are somewhat diluted by 25-odd years having passed since I saw it. And the 15-year old narkle not knowing an awful lot about pretty much anything. How time’s change.
I’m sorry I realise that you probably do know about Subway, or could find out about it pretty much as quickly by checking on this here Internet thingymajig but I’m interacting, which I’m informed is what it’s all about. Whatever it is.
Thanks for mentioning Highlander 2 where I might actually read it & thus be reminded of my most traumatic experience (in a cinema anyway) ever. I’ve finally gone postal. I hope that you realize that your careless comment is responsible for the gory death of several work colleagues, some of whom I might actually miss when i recover…
“You Know, That One Where He’s That Bloke In That Prison.”
