I noticed the first ep of S3 was on BBC2 last night. I can’t get used to this “Only Being 2 Weeks Behind The States” thing.

S3 of Heroes has been entirely useless so far.

The “twist” surrounding Sylar would be better suited to a soap opera, (tune in next week when we find out that our huge-eyebrowed villain is a lesbian!), and Hiro gets more and more annoying purely because the writers expect us to continue to forget that his power can break the whole series idea.

Fun from a recent episode includes THE MAN WHO CAN STOP TIME coming up with a whizzer idea for getting a briefcase he wants by THE MAN WHO CAN STOP TIME saying “excuse me, that’s my briefcase” while his friend dresses up like an usher and… no, that’s it.

The good news is that Claire is trying to add “brooding internal conflict” to her list of superpower, thereby approaching Petrelli-like levels of being annoying.

Disturbingly, it’s still better than the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The fact that when I watched S3 first episode, I couldn’t remember what the hell had gone on is S2 was a bit of a pointer for me.

I’ve got the first 3 episodes of S3 still to watch. I’m approaching them with an open mind. As I tried to get across, I thought S2 had some nice moments (Elle seeing the picture on Bob’s desk, the Partman / Angela Petrelli face-off, almost everything Hiro was involved in) surrounded by some bloody awful half-hours (the tedious Maya/Alejandro/Sylar nonsense, everything set in Oirland, Doctor bloody boring wooden stupid stupid stupid Suresh).

I think they’d conclude that it should have been called X-Files 2: The Quest To Trade Your Last Lingering Shreds Of Goodwill For More Cash.

No like Heroes anymore? Season III has taken a decidedly darker path, and has lots of quirks I wasn’t expecting. I think it’s getting back to S1 status, but with the added problem of having too long a hiatus. It’s a shame the writers strike continued for as long as it did.

Speaking of X-Files, why did they release another movie? They should get Mulder and Scully onto the case smartish.
